My kids are really into Star Wars and the show Star Wars Rebels on Disney XD. I often find them pretending to be a Jedi and wanting to play Star Wars with other kids too. I’ve wanted to do some pool noodle ideas for awhile, so I picked up a few at the dollar store to make some pool noodle light sabers.

You can also buy foam swords at the dollar store, but my kids are rough, so these are perfect because the handles can’t fall off (there’s not really a handle).

How to Make Pool Noodle Light Sabers in 2 Easy Steps.

1. Buy a pool noodle and cut it in half.
2. Tape the end of each pool noodle with electrical tape.

I even got some awesome photos with my DSLR in “action mode” of my son being knocked on the ground.
I LOVE that they can get out their brotherly aggression in a safe way and I have to admit, it’s fun to bop them with a pool noodle myself sometimes too. Sword fighting is a fun game- especially when it’s also safe.

Plus, check out this fun video I took that captures their joy and giggles. SO fun!

Once you make them… Try this Star Wars Sight Word Activity!

If you have extra pool noodles you can also make these card holders:

We’re trying to keep it simple and fun this summer! I’d love to hear your ideas too!
